Instant PLA/FDM 3D printing quotes for terrain and props

FDM 3D Printing Quotes for Terrain, Prototypes & Custom Parts

Big Prints Need a Big Build Plate — and a Fast Quote

Resin printing is brilliant for fine detail at small scale, but it isn't built for everything. Terrain pieces, prototypes, gadget housings, and functional parts are often bigger, chunkier, and need to hold up to real handling — that's exactly what FDM printing does best.

Our PLA / FDM print method is now built directly into the same price calculator you'd use for resin — upload your STL, switch to PLA, and get an instant, volume-based quote. No emails, no waiting, no guessing whether your project will actually fit on a printer.

Why FDM/PLA Is the Right Call for Terrain, Props & Prototypes

  • A genuinely big build plate. Our FDM printer has a 256 × 256 × 256mm build volume — enough for large terrain tiles, sizeable props, or prototypes that would never fit in a resin vat.
  • Priced by volume, not tiers. FDM quotes are calculated purely on how much material your model uses, so there's no guesswork and no flat "small/medium/large" bucket that overcharges a simple part.
  • Built for function, not just looks. PLA is tough, dimensionally stable, and well suited to parts that need to be handled, assembled, or actually used — brackets, enclosures, jigs, replacement parts, and more.
  • A genuine colour range. Choose from 16 PLA colours — including white, black, and dark grey included at no extra cost — so plenty of projects need zero post-print painting at all.
  • Still an instant quote. Same calculator, same speed — the only thing that changes is the print method you select.

How to Get an Instant FDM Quote

Three steps to an instant FDM 3D printing quote: upload your STL, choose PLA and colour, then get an instant quote and order

1. Upload Your STL Files

Head to the price calculator and upload your file — a single STL, or a multi-part build if your project is split into several pieces for assembly.

2. Choose PLA & Your Colour

Switch the print method to PLA/FDM and pick a colour. White, black, and dark grey are included at no extra cost; standard, metallic, and pearlescent shades carry a small surcharge that scales with the size of the part.

3. Get an Instant, Volume-Based Quote

Your price appears immediately, calculated from the actual volume of material your model needs — plus a live check that it fits within the 256mm build plate.

4. Order With Confidence

Happy with the price? Add it to your cart. Every part is printed to order in the UK, with spend-and-save discounts applied automatically as your order total grows.

Perfect for FDM Projects Like

  • Tabletop terrain and scenery — ruins, walls, hills, and large scatter pieces that need bulk more than fine detail.
  • Prototypes — test-fit a design or validate a concept before committing to production.
  • Gadgets and enclosures — housings, brackets, mounts, and functional hardware.
  • Custom parts and replacements — a broken clip, a bespoke bracket, or a one-off component you can't buy off the shelf.
  • Props and display pieces — larger builds where PLA's strength and size headroom matter more than resin-level fine detail.

As with all our printing, we can only produce files you have the rights to print — your own designs, prototypes, or STLs from sources that permit it.

A Quick Note on Materials

Right now, our FDM service prints exclusively in PLA. It's a reliable, affordable, easy-to-finish material that covers the vast majority of terrain, prototype, and gadget projects well. If your project has specific mechanical or environmental demands beyond what PLA can offer, get in touch via a custom quote and we'll let you know what's possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials do you print in for FDM?

PLA only, at present. It's tough, stable, and suits the large majority of terrain, prototype, and functional parts our customers print.

How big can an FDM print be?

Up to 256 × 256 × 256mm — our FDM printer's full build volume, minus a small safety margin the calculator accounts for automatically.

How is FDM pricing different from resin?

FDM is priced purely on the volume of material your model uses. Resin uses size tiers plus a support-handling allowance. Both are quoted instantly by the same calculator — just select the print method that matches your file.

Can I get a multi-colour part?

Each part prints in a single colour. If you need multiple colours on one part, or a gradient effect, get in touch for a custom quote.

Do you print large batches or multiple parts at once?

Yes — upload as many files as you need, or use the multi-part option for an assembly, and the calculator will total everything for you.

Can I print any STL file I upload?

You're welcome to upload any file you own the rights to or otherwise have permission to print. We're not able to print copyrighted third-party designs without the appropriate licence.
